Monte di Procida is the Naples hidden gems promontory that most visitors to the western bay never reach. The volcanic headland sits above the Gulf of Pozzuoli with Procida island directly below and Ischia rising behind it. From the elevated piazzas and belvedere points around the town, both islands are visible simultaneously — the compressed island panorama that makes the Campi Flegrei coast one of the most photographic stretches of coastline in the Mediterranean. Walking the southern edge of the town slowly finds all of them.

Procida Below and Ischia Behind

The Corricella fishing village on Procida’s eastern face is visible in direct morning light between 7am and 10am — the yellow and pink and ochre facades readable with a telephoto lens from the Monte di Procida belvedere. After 10am the light reverses and the facades go into shadow.

The Volcanic Scogli Below

The rocky shore below the Monte di Procida promontory — the scogli — is accessible via footpaths from the town. Both the elevated and the shore-level perspectives reward separate sessions.

Local bus from Pozzuoli or Bacoli to Monte di Procida town. Check current EAVBUS Campania timetables. By car, approximately forty-five minutes from Naples. Practical Information

All belvedere viewpoints and the scogli paths are free. Best light: 7am to 10am for the Procida facade illumination from the elevated position.
