Rampe Di Sant’antonio , Napoli
The Ramps of Sant’Antonio, known as the “thirteen descents,” lead to the most panoramic and romantic spot in Naples. Although of Greco-Roman origin, their construction was commissioned in 1643 by the Spanish viceroy Ramiro Nunez de Guzman to connect Chiaia to Posillipo, an event commemorated by a plaque. Subsequently widened to facilitate access to the Church of Sant’Antonio da Padova (1642), which gives them their name, the route has been slightly modified over time. Today, they feature a narrow passage and sharp bends, challenging for drivers, leading to the panoramic square built in 1970. At night, its terrace, overlooking the sea and the city lights, is the ideal spot for a romantic encounter.
