Scalinate Sant’antonio , Napoli

The Ramps of Sant’Antonio, although of Greco-Roman origin, were built in their current form in 1643 at the behest of the Spanish viceroy Ramiro Nunez de Guzman, with the aim of connecting the hamlets of Posillipo to Chiaia.
A plaque with a Latin inscription attests to their original construction.
They were later expanded to facilitate access to the Church of Sant’Antonio da Padova, inaugurated in 1642, which gives its name to the entire route.

Traveling along the thirteen descents, today slightly modified and with some ramps incorporated into the urban fabric, you reach the most panoramic and romantic point in Naples.
The route, characterized by a narrow road and sharp curves, is a real test for even the most daring drivers, but it leads to the magnificent terrace overlooking the gulf, built in 1970.
